Jeopardy Final Question -- Hilarious Answers

Ralph and I had a good laugh at the two Diana Ross answers. Obviously, they haven't a clue who she is.

Under the categorie "Singers," the final answer was "In 2021 at age 95, this singer achieved a Guinness World Record for the oldest person to release an album of new material."

Oh I think they knew who she is, but just had no concept of the age. Tony was the first thing that popped into my brain but I guess under that 30 second time limit, you can easily forget things.

My opinion is that the younger Jeopardy contestants know very little about
pop culture. They have tremendous academic knowledge, sci-fi and
recent music awareness, but are sometimes surprisingly clueless about
the most popular of TV shows or movies of mid last century. I guess you
have to have lived during that era.

The one and only Tony Bennett was a given.

Time for them to put down their revered cell phones and bone up a little on American social history. Nina is right. The question was a softball.

Not so hilarious answers. No one knew the correct answer -- including us.
Who would? TV history dating back to 1969. I did not even know about
Sesame Street until I had toddlers old enough to watch it on PBS around
1975. Did anyone see the first episode and know the answer?

That Sesame Street question fooled both of us in my household as well. There was just not enough information in the clue for anyone to get it right in my opinion. But Jeopardy is like that sometimes.........the final question can be so obvious [[recent examples The Boston Tea Party and Edgar Allan Poe) that anyone could get it or they can be so obscure like this one and no one has a chance. Credit though to the staff and how difficult it must be to keep the show going all these years. You would think they would run out of trivia after awhile.

And, so far, the final winnings each day have been rather low.
They have contestants with strengths in varying topics. Keeps
the show interesting. I was surprised that nobody knew "The Rubaiyat,"
but, then Ralph thinks I know all kinds of trivia. Softball, IMO.
Mostly, we have different sets of brilliance. :D Occasionally they
overlap.

Last night knowledge of pop culture would not have helped.

Twitter got a kick out of the woman who confused Chuck D with Marky Mark.

A recent Jeopardy! [[https://www.xxlmag.com/tags/jeopardy/) contestant has gone viral after confusing legendary hip-hop group Public Enemy [[https://www.xxlmag.com/tags/public-enemy/) with the short-lived 1990s group fronted by rapper-turned-actor Mark Wahlberg, The Funky Bunch.On Wednesday [[June 28), attorney Halley Ryherd appeared as a contestant on the long-running trivia show. Under, the category "Chuck D [[https://www.xxlmag.com/tags/chuck-d/)," the players were given the answer, "In the 1980s, Chuck D began fighting the power in this hip-hop group with Flavor Flav, a man who always knew what time it was."

Ryherd was the first to buzz in and responded, "Who is The Funky Bunch."
Despite the wrong answer, Ryherd reportedly went on to win the episode.

If you clearly don't know the answer, take a pass [other than on Final Jeopardy].

As it turns out, Chuck actually had a writing credit for an earlier outfit that also billed itself as The Funky Bunch.
