That was a nice tribute to Jay Black of Jay & the Americans. And I loved the story of his group getting to sing Only In America because the powers that be didn't think it was appropriate for the Drifters to sing a song with those lyrics back in the sixties. The Drifters version was never released and Jay and the Americans used the same track which was speeded up)

Thanks for posting the video here. I am glad I watched it to the end and saw the surprise of seeing the original Jay of Jay and the Americans, Jay Traynor, singing their first hit, SHE CRIED from 1962.

Thank you and Thank you PBS for helping to keep our musical memories alive.

It makes me sick to think about it. Rudy Lewis did the amazing lead. Jay is great, but The Drifters really got shafted as so often happened with them. Outside of The Miracles, they are my second favorite R&B [[first group) and 60s pop soul group [[Ben E, Rudy & Johnny).

Just not long enough. I wonder why it was removed. Glad I saw it before it was removed, but was looking forward to a discussion in this thread about the clip

It's not removed, I just saw it and people are commenting. Maybe FB was down for a while?

I just tried it again and a page pops up saying 'this content isn't available right now' [and FB isn't down now].

That's odd. I just tried it again and got this:

This Content Isn't Available Right Now
When this happens, it's usually because the owner only shared it with a small group of people, changed who can see it or it's been deleted.

Visit Help Center

But I did see it the first day it was posted, so something changed. And it is a shame as it was a nice video with interesting info and performances by Jay Black and a performance by the original Jay. Hope the problem can be solved

Ha Ha I found a solution. Go to this link and then click on the first video called COME A LITTLE BIT CLOSER

https://www.facebook.com/tj.lubinsky/videos

That is the video. It is definitely worth watching. The story that Jay tells about the Drifters not being able to release ONLY IN AMERICA because of the lyrics deserves a separate thread here for discussion.

And now, this direct link to the video seems to work too. Odd, but try both
