Stumbled upon this recently . Whitney's Mom managed to chart for two weeks on Billboards Hot 100 with this song [#92], her only appearance on that chart under her own name.

Found this version of her performing it and was struck by her stage presence:

Didn't "Bring Him Back" chart nationally or regionally? I have no idea because I never listened to the Pop radio stations. But I heard it on the Soul stations in most cities, and seen many, many copies in record shops. I would guess it charted.

Some of other recordings like THINK IT OVER bubbled under the Pop 100 but BE MY BABY was the only one that made it.

Hi Robb,

Joel Whitburn lists Cissy's R&B chartings as thus:

6/13/70 - I'LL BE THERE #45 on chart two weeks
3/13/71 - BE MY BABY #31 on chart eight weeks
3/26/77 - LOVE IS SOMETHING THAT LEADS YOU #97 on chart four weeks
7/16/77 - TOMORROW #74 on chart seven weeks
8/12/78 - THINK IT OVER #32 on chart ten weeks

Shall we give BRING HIM BACK a listen:

Robb's spot on! not just "Bring Him Back" but Cissy Houston's other Northern Soul Anthem :"I Just Don't Know what to do With Myself" from 1970 shame it never charted?
