Forgive me guys If this post dosent belong in this forum,But on the old site I used to post general music topics there..Im still getting a hold of our new site..
Mike Stock,Uk producer and writer part of Stock Aitken Waterman hit producing team has spoken out on Lady Gaga and Rnb music in general...
I respect this man,If anything was close to the Motown ethic of the in- house stable roster,Then the 80's hit factory was it.
From first hearing Princess's "Say Im Your Number One " in the summer of '85 I was hooked on this pop production teamthey soon dropped the soul style of this hit for their own defining sound -Dead Or Alive,Kylie,Bananrama,Rick Astley,Mel & Kim..the list is endless.
Mike Stock has come out saying basically that Lady Gaga is trash,a whore..that the music of todays generation is basically soft porn..and isnt fit for children to be subjected to..this opens lots of areas for us to discuss...
Older viewers found the Supremes in sleeveless dresses offensive..
Donna Summer was considered tastless by some for "Love To Love You..."
Madonna sang "Like A Virgin" to a generation of now adults...
Is this a generation thing or does Stock have a valid point?
Ive just spent 4 months djing in a club where all they requested was Lady Gaga..frankly I soon got mighty sick of playing her music and felt like a robot..but Prince made sexual music 25 years ago....Im very interested to hear all your views on this,i know most of you wouldnt listen to Lady Gaga..but if the music industry is in such a mess -who do you blame?..Madonna? overly suggestive Hip Hop?
cheers Nomis
