In the liner notes of one cd, Bobby says that he wrote it to express how much he was in love with Sam Cooke's widow Barbara. As most know, there was a lot of controversy when Bobby married her three months after Sam was killed.

I like the beginning of Aretha's, but then she gets too high [[with echo effect) and too shrill. I love Pickett's with the
great female backing vocals.
