:cool:Please add their ballads:

Sparkle & Why Have I Lost You and the incredibly funky "Back & Forth"......:cool::cool::cool:

The groups live performance of "Shake Your Pants" was a killer.....

Here's something I find interesting: Some of the hardest, deepest funk groups with the most powerful bass lines also have the ability to churn out some of the best ballads. Yes, Cameo has some awesome ballads ... as does Lakeside ... as do the Ohio Players, etc.

I appreciate Cameo. They helped me get my party on from the late 70's through most of the 80's! From "Rigor Mortis" to "Single Life"! There were one of the BEST!

I was lucky enough to meet the original band back in '79. Crazy bunch of dudes as I remember. IMO, it never got any better than these two:

Love them. Their best album as a whole is "Alligator Woman". "Soul Army" will always be one of the funkiest tracks ever for me.

Saw them in London recently - great show but slightly disappointed by the stage time of 70 minutes and doing "Candy" [[which I love) twice.

Ohio Players! There's a band that no one ever talks about these days.

I would add Confunkson to your list for the funk and the best ballads, like "Love's Train."

If anyone wants to talk Ohio Players on this board, I'm more than willing. Actually, I'll start an appreciation thread. I love funk, Cameo, Lakeside, ConFunkShun, Slave, but my favorite funk group is The Ohio Players.

They don't make funk like they used to ...
