Fellow SDF posters, like me, you all have read the books. Seen the movies and documentaries. Also, read the articles and blogs, vlogs. Heard the interviews and podcasts. Some of us: Marv, Jerry, Stu Bass, Robb, and others were either in the Studio A, knew or worked [[or both) with sound engineers, the artists, the staff, etc. While others among us, have personal/firsthand of knowledge of those highly creative Motown professionals. Others lived in the neighborhoods. Still others witnessed The Motortown Revue, Hitsville at its birth and Motown's move to LA.

But I would like to know: What was Diane really like before she was The Boss/ Miss Ross? How to did William become Smokey? Who was Marvin, back before he dropped the e in his last name? How did Pop Gordy interact with his son and daughters before the fame and fortunes? [[Pops Gordy only skimmed the surface in his tome) Did The Temps ever clash; aside from the touted one with David? What were other lesser known acts interaction with Smokey, Norman Whitfield, HDH, the Funk Bros., and the like?

In other words, can we go back, way back, to the hungry/salad days? As Otis Redding sang: Your turn!

nativeNY63, you might want to edit your thread and take out one of the names especially since you elected to use her name with that spelling. Referencing her [[especially with your topic) belongs in a designated sub-forum unless your objective is to start a major downhill war which will alienate many folk. Just sayin'.

Most of them loved to bowl and roller skate before becoming famous.
