Why is Mary looking off into the distance while Flo and Diana are looking straight on? Is there a similar pose from this session that Mary is looking forward? Why has no one ever Photoshopped Mary's eyes?

in tony turner's book, he states that in many pics Diana and Flo are looking straight out at you while Mary is looking away. I don't think that's really the case though. maybe if you sat down and counted each and every pic, you might find mary is looking to the side often. But as they became more adept at their photo shoots, they tried lots of looks and expressions.

as for the Dreamgirl cover, that's probably something the publisher arranged and not mary. the author doesn't always really get to decide exact details of the cover. I'd guess that they asked mary to submit a few famous pics of the trio and they'd select one and go with it. this one is certainly an iconic image and it's a closeup of the group. plus Mary's in the middle.
