I went to play my Ruff'NReady by Jimmy Ruffin tonight and just discovered by reading the CD case that this was produced in 2009 by Universal Music Special Markets in conjunction with Reel Music. B0013185-02/66748-78015-2. Reissue supervision: Paul Williams. It is in stereo.

Does anyone know if this was the only one ever reissued by Reel Music or were there any others by any other Motown artists? I must admit the sound quality is exception on this CD. It really made Jimmy sound incredible.

Thanks for any help anyone can give.

Hi Bill, I have: Chris Clark "Soul Sounds", Gordon Staples "Strung Out" and Yvonne Fair "The Bitch Is Black" hope this helps. They are beautifully produced.

They released Bettye Lavette's TELL ME A LIE album in 2008.

Wow, I am surprised at the great number that were released. I especially noted the Caroline Crawford which I would LOVE to obtain. I got my Ruff'N Ready as a gift and
I was totally unaware that there were others. I wonder if the company is still in business? I know that they were somehow involved in some DVD productions if I am not mistaken.

Thanks everyone. I am certain everyone learned something from this thread.

The CDs are of excellent quality as you know and there were plans to release more, including more Motown stuff and the Blinky albums. Sadly they no longer operate and folks on this forum have long lamented their demise. Well worth seeking out because they do still come up for sale used from time to time. The Sisters Love CD of their unreleased album [[plus) is great. The Chris Clark album "Dream Or Cry" I've never heard but others may be able to comment.

Check out the marketplace at Discogs.com as an option for finding some of those Reel Music CDs to buy and add to your collections! I bought all 5 of the highlighted discs listed above and I'm happy to have them in my collection!

Off-topic question: How did the Universal Music Group fare after that horrendous warehouse fire, a number of years ago? A few SDF posters said many labels masters were lost.
