From Diana's solo debut - this one remains a fan favorite these 50 years later. This is the only cut on the LP not written & produced by Ashford and Simpson, but instead written my Johnny Bristol, Harvey Fuqua and Sylvia Moy and produced by Bristol. Johnny and Diana had quite an in-studio chemistry!

Shouldn't your several Ross posts be in the designated forum?

One for DRATS obviously.

This one, at least to me, had a country vibe to it. Simple and beautiful background harmonies and orchestration. I don't have the information in front of me; however, some of you would be able to name, off the top of your heads, other artists who recorded this.

"These Things"-will keep me loving you- would have been a monster hit renamed, "Keep Me Loving You".

it's a good song but i don't see it as a lost massive hit.

aside from Mountain, i think Something's On My Mind is the next strongest song for a single

I always seem to like the first version of any Motown song I hear the best, and in this case the Velvelettes' version sounds superior to me.

I love this song. It’s probably in my top ten favorite Diana Ross songs. Should have been a big hit. IMO

One of my all time favorite Diana Ross cuts. Johnny and Diana had great chemistry.

Seems to me now that it was a natural follow up to Someday

Perhaps should have been the first single

Berry probably thought it wasn’t pop enough

Seems to me this has aged very well

I agree with an above poster that the Velvelettes' version is superior.

i think that's exactly why he had it put on the album. A&S had come up with all of this other material. really all of it was excellent but it was a totally new sound and approach for Diana. so would it be commercial? apparently Berry wasn't 100% sure and so he had These Things put on the album because it was so similar to Someday and therefore could be a potential single.
