MFSB/SalsoulOrchestra question

Hi there.....

A while back I asked a question concerning the strings behind the Motown hits of the 60's, and I guess the obvious extention of that question concerns the PRI/Salsoul bands.

Basically, were the strings in MFSB and, by extention, The Salsoul Orchestra actual members of the "band" or were they recruited for specific gigs from exsisting "Symphony" orchestras in the Philly area. Inquiring minds want to know.

Some members were part of the Philadelphia Orch. and when you needed Strings you hired the contractor Don Renaldo and he assembled all the String players for MFSB,The Monster Orch.,the Richie Family and The Salsoul Orch. and all my sessions that were there Robert Palmer, Edgar Winter, Grace Jones, Peoples Choice, Loose Change and TJM.

So in other words, Don Renaldo was a key componant to the Philly Soul sound on all levels.
