This one might be kind of easy...in 1966 a male and female recorded songs that talked about the same subject[it wasn't about love]name the artist and the songs.

2703It can't be "Respect", as Otis Redding's was 1965. and Aretha Franklin's was 1967.

hmm...Could it be a dance song??...1966 was, The Philly Dog, The Duck, Cool Jerk, and a few more Boogaloo songs I think. The only dance song by a woman from '66 I know of is Holly Maxwell - Philly Barracuda???

Maybe "Philly Barracuda" and "Do The Barracuda" by Alvin Cash and The Registers [[or was it The Crawlers?).

Midnight Hour - Wilson Pickett & Ann Mason with Little Mac & The Boss Sound would fit if the year was 1965?

In an earlier post, it was stated that they recorded for different labels...since both Wilson's and Ann's songs came out on Atlantic, I doubt that "Midnight Hour" is correct.

Best,

Mark

Ok...I think we should put our heads together on this one, guys as arr&bee is already gloating and hasn't yet shown his hand:
I remember 1966 well and if it wasn't a song about love the only other thing that kept us busy then would have been--
Dancing
Protesting
or maybe eating/food
Wilson Pickett's "Land Of 1000 Dances" made it to #1 summer of '66
Any other ideas??

Trivia

Revealed in her autobiography "Just Lucky, I Guess" that her father was a light skinned African American who used one accent to help "pass" in the white world and another around the house, where he sang gospel music to entertain his daughter.

He is listed as a prominent newspaper editor at the beginning of her bio.
