Another strange list when you consider all of those great songs Marvin had between 1962-68. Also, "Unmistakably Lou" was the title of an album and not an actual song that I recall.

I remember Marvin telling the story of how, when Lou won that particular Grammy, he shot Marvin the most chilling and shadiest of smiles. Marvin vowed to win the next time and eventually didi.

I heard him say that he had lost a few times to Lou Rawls. The next time he was going to tackle Lou as he made his way to the stage and take his Grammy! LOL!

Ridiculous as it sounds, R&B performances were not awarded back then and there’s no way those folks would call his vocal pop.

The Grammy for Best Rhythm & Blues Recording was introduced in 1963.

R&B performances were awarded from the first Grammys in 1958. The first Best R&B Performance award went to TEQUILA by the Champs, followed the next year by Dinah Washington's WHAT A DIFFERENCE A DAY MAKES.

The Grammys have been flawed since day one. Especially towards the indie labels. They did improve with their nominations, but still were and still are incredibly bias.
