Groups [[any genre) whose lead singer is less attractive than the rest of the group

It's amazing how many you can name form the past, and how much it says about today... when that sort of thing NEVER happens. How many can you name? In the 60's, there were some geeky and homely lookin guys leading up groups... Gary Lewis, Tommy James, Dennis Yost. The most striking was Los Bravos, while the rest of the group were a bunch of hot studs [[Even the little guy with the glasses), Mike Kennedy was one of the homeliest guys i've ever seen grace a stage:

Ironically... as he got into his thirties, he put on weight, grew his hair longer, grew a moustache, and looked a HUNDRED times better.

then you ahd groups like the Turtles who NONE of them were anything to look at, but the sound was IMPECCABLE. Today that never happens anymore, in this age of the visual being everything.

Well smark2 .. beauty and ugliness must surely be in the eye of the beholder as the lead singer in that group doesn't look obviously better or worse looking than the other members of the group to me.

I remember when this song hit #1 in Britain in late 1967 there was a lot of comment about the "funny looking" lead singer amongst my schoolmates.

Later on in the group's career one of the other members took over as "lead" .. can't think why. :)

Worked for them too .. as they went globally mega-famous in '70s.

I agree!! sucky music, though.... I hate songs which are all halting like that and don't flow.

Yes... Robin was funny looking, but in the 60's, he and Barry basically split the leads for the most part. There was just that 1975-79 period where Barry sang lead on most everything, and did it in falsetto, which I don't care for. Personally, I was WANTING to hear Robin do another lead at that time. I always wondered why they didn't split the leads like they had in the past. I have to say, I already considered them mega-famous in the 60's.... just moreso in the 70's.

Well, I think it's really not a good topic to discuss, in my opinion. Do people really want to talk about how unattractive
they think certain singers are as opposed to others?
