Was it an oversite? Or is there something in the vaults that we don't know about? It would've been terrific to have had a soulful duet with mr.& mrs.smokey..anybody know of one?

That is the craziest thing isn't it? I thought I remember Claudette making a guest appearance on one of Smokey's solo albums in the early 80s and they sang a bit together. Can anyone help me with this?

Also crazy that Smokey and Aretha never recorded anything together.

They only did one duet as far as I know. I discovered somewhere that around the time that "Warm Thoughts" was released Smokey was working on a full album with Claudette. About Ten years ago I asked Harry Weinger about those tracks he told me that they didn't exist. However, there are many L.A. reels that aren't labeled or marked,so that could be the case. Due to this carelessness in the past so much would've been lost: "Blue" by Diana Ross as well as unreleased tracks by Marvin Gaye.

Also crazy that Smokey and Aretha never recorded anything together.Never made a duet, but Smokey did give "Just My Daydream" to her so I guess that picks up the slack somewhat.

Not on record unfortunately, though I have a Smokey concert on DVD where Aretha is invited to sing this song :

Phil, yes, I do remember those performances. I wonder if recording contracts and companies prevented them from working together in the studio. I know she had recorded several times with the Four Tops and the results were stellar in my opinion.
