I think that perhaps Jean's merge into R&B/pop/whatsoever may have been well intentioned but cost the lady some seriously deserved jazz creds. Been re-listening to her lps with then-husband Doug. Lord-a-mighty. What a pair of American masters.

That was what a lot of folks considered important, noteworthy and progressive music at the time. To some it still is. It was Jean's lyrics to a Wayne Shorter composition. Maybe some
will remember Wayne as the sax player in Weather Report whose big hit was Birdland.
Anyway Jean and her ex Doug reconnected back in 2010 and worked together for a while.I
don't know what's up now but seeing as how Wayne like Herbie Hancock and more than a
few others cemented in that era are still working in the business, it would be nice to hear
new product from Jean. She had that voice...
