I'm a long-tortured Mets fan. My torture would be even worse if not for the Error made by Bill Buckner. That changed a lot of fortunes and it's sad that it's the singular highlight we remember when we consider Bill Buckner's career. The elation of Mets fans came at the expense of his pride and legacy and although it made me happy, I wouldn't wish it on anyone. I hope his family will find comfort in the joy that his life brought, not distress in sadness of his passing. RIP.
