I like the first 4-5 albums really well from Al Hudson & Soul Partners to Al Hudson & One Way to Al Hudson & One Way featuring Alicia Myers. This was a great Detroit group and although I grooved to their disco-funk-dance songs, their smooth grooves took me by storm, Something In The Past & Guess You Didn't Know are faves.......I know I must have seven or eight of his/their albums, now I got to pull them out including the fantastic LP from Alicia Myers. I met Al several years ago and he's a nice guy....
Why did I like them ? real band, real instruments, great players, tight vocals and excellent showmanship. They could smoke the average band on a live show and whoever was on the bill with them didn't want to go on last........

Ahhhh...a subject very close to my heart!
If you check the old archives, you may be able to find an LP-fo-LP review that I once did here.
If I were limited to ONE & quality from beginning to end, I would have to choose their second LP as One Way, their 1980 Lp which was also titled "One Way Featuring Al Hudson".
2503
This LP featured a couple of hits, the Funk blast, J.B. tribute, "Mr. Groove", the ballad "Lady You Are", a couple more great ballads, "If Only You Knew", "Don't Stop" & to my way of thinking, one of their most unsung cuts ever, "Let Me Make It Up To You".
