This used to be one of her showstoppers. I'll never understand why she dropped it from her act.

I remember this song long before the CD and video was released in 1991-92. Here Mary performs it on the Lou Rawls UNCF telethon in 1988:

Marv, you are a treasure trove - I’ve never seen this ever. I do recall hearing it in NYC in like 89 or 90 and then it was in her act for a while , but not long enough. She will still do,it if requested. Great song and with slightly better production, bonafide hit material.

She never really was. She was singing lead on the very first record the Primettes recorded. Once at Motown, she was assigned to sing background harmony. Had they been in a different situation at a different company, she would have no doubt sung more leads early on. Still her talent could not be denied and she ended up singing more leads except for Diana Ross and Jean Terrell than any of the other Supremes. She's been a steady live concert performer for over 40 years now!
