Always great to hear Love Child again. So Steppenwolf's Magic Carpet Ride was #3 behind Love Child. Brings back memories. Never realized till now that Magic Carpet Ride and Upside Down would mash up very well.

this is a perfect pop song. it grabs the listener immediately and never lets go. catchy hooks, sing-able chorus, memorable lyrics and lines.

would be interesting if any of the initial concepts or materials would ever surface. early drafts of lyrics before they settled on the story line. where there earlier, different melodies being toyed with, etc.

and it's too bad they didn't utilize the longer version with the 3rd verse on the lp. the lyrics are a little more clumsy than the previous verses but would have worked well to have a longer track on the lp
