Thanks so much for this, reese. God bless Rolling Stone for giving her some much-deserved shine. And shame on Warner Bros.; I'm steaming mad [[though not shocked) to hear of their treatment of her. If that's a current photo, the woman has found the fountain of youth or has a portrait growing old in her closet! I wish her triumph over her illness and in her career. She's a real soul survivor.

WOW. I had no idea about a lot of this. Makes her latest single "Confidence" ever more poignant. What a legend. Thanks for sharing reese.

Hi!

Throughout the years Candi has been one of my biggest favourites.
Unfortunately, her latest CD "Unstoppable" is far from her best - for me, anyway - but if you like Candi on uptempo material, then you should go for this.

I would agree re UNSTOPPABLE. I really hoped to like it but none of the songs really grabbed me, except for possibly her version of CAN I CHANGE MY MIND. That said, I'm still glad that it is getting Candi some attention.

Glad you guys liked the article.

About time Rolling Stone devoted some space in their rag to Candi Staton. They sure didn't give her the time of day back in the seventies when her career had momentum and could've used the push.
Sorry to see a story of this length not give some mention of Dave Crawford. He put in some real blood, sweat, and tears towards developing her career. I can believe those thoughtful creations of his with Candi at Warner Bros. were expensive to make.
That was one of the main reasons the big labels unified in killing disco , it was just simply too costly to make.
Must say, picking five lousy husbands in a row, not sure at who the finger pointing most belongs.
Play Candi's music regularly .
My best thoughts are with her in these trying times.

Candi was always a great singer. From Gospel to Soul to Disco, I've enjoyed her music for a long time.
