I know this is not soul related, but I am a child of the 60's, so bare with me.
Marty Balin, co-founder of the Jefferson Airplane, passed away yesterday at the age of 76. He [[and the band) could probably be considered a founding band of the Psychedelic Era. An excellent songwriter and singer, he will be missed.
