Dutch group The Cats whose LP 45 Lives was released on Rare Earth in 1970. :)

I remember the Cats album in record stores. The cover always creeped me out a little bit, though, so I never picked it up or listened to it.

That is the one I found in the trash a few years ago:2 boxes of sealed Motown and Rare Earth records.
I still have not opened it :)

Rare Earth was my favorite band of the late 60s, early 70s. They could sing and play with the best of them!

I think that during the peak of the company's success in the mid-60's there were close to 150 artists signed to the label. Sadly, because of the intense competition for a release slot, many either had no or very little product issued despite regular recording sessions. Brenda Holloway is a prime example of just how much she recorded with only a handful of 45's and one album to show for her efforts and she was by no means unique in that regard.

Mr. Gordy and company hardly had to go out looking for artists. Everyone wanted that "Motown Sound", unfortunately they had to wait their turn and sometimes their turn ever came! The Velvelettes also never got an album release at Motown.

And how about Kim!

That's true. Kim Weston never got an album at Motown.
