Yes, he was around at least during the beginning of the '50s, playin in Bobby Bland's band, even before he signed with Duke Records [[when he recorded for Modern Records).

I had no idea he played with Bobby Bland's band. Bobby was with Duke Records for a long time. Thanks Robb.

He also played with Memphis Slim, and did sessions with several of the other great Blues singers.
