I remember landing in Detroit in June 1995 and was suppose to see Junior along with the Four Tops, Mary Wilson and the Temptations at Pine Knob. He had to cancel due to illness. That was my last chance to see and hear him.

He/they weren't sophisticated, but they were very hard working and reliable. Put one of their records on and you always had a party going on!

I saw Jr Walker and the Allstars in Newcastle upon Tyne [[UK) in about 1981. I was only 13 at the time and they were brilliant. I remember his saxophone playing popped one of the lights. The support act was the group that sang 'Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue, ooh ooh, ooh' - they were good too!

I was in college when Foreigner came out with the hit "Urgent". Something immediately told me that was Junior Walker or sounded a lot like him. His was brilliant!

I've probably told this story many times on other sites in the UK, but as the "Junior/All Stars were High on my personal favourite agenda, recall mid 1970's when I had just recently finished my engineering apprenticeship, and was pretty much "penniless", had bought tickets for myself and my then [[pre/ex wife) girlfriend to see them at Wigan Casino! To cut a long story short, whilst I was dismayed at our inability to travel due to cost/distance etc. was equally overjoyed to see a "flier" in my local record shops' window to see that they were appearing in my then Home Town of Newport in South Wales [[UK) the following week as part of a local Rugby union team's celebratory end of season "bash"..... There is a God, and I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to have witnessed such a Class Act "in the flesh" ...... "Way Back Home"..........

Junior a real gentleman! no one else could make the Sax sing by itself like he did! remember him so well from one of his last concerts at the Liverpool Empire, the great old Theatre had dressing rooms on about 6 floors, no lift and the more you were to the top of the bill you were in the more grander lower changing rooms. It was a hot night as I walked up the five flights of stairs, when I got to his dressing room for the interview he was sat on a chair outside, he looked so weary and he said inside was like a fire! I said lets leave the interview tonight, but firmly came back the reply NO WAY! and on stage he performed as well as he ever did! Happy Birthday Junior, miss You but thanks for the music you left us forever! I still love his more foster period, Granada TV used to use 'Walk in The Night' in between programmes last night for talk over what was coming up later. that period would make a great collection.

Please explain why he is not in the rock and Roll Hall of Fame, what a major injustice, he is a complete original with his sax, and I thought that was what the RRHOF is all about. Please correct this injustice and make a home for the great Jr. Walker.

"Something Old" was sung by The Fantastics. I saw them live supporting Martha Reeves in the late 70's. Think they were a New York based group.
