I do not believe so. American Bandstand was still broadcast in black and white in 1967. This may be Shebang hosted by Casey Kasem.

This is from Shebang with host Casey Kasem.

That's what I thought. Dick Clark never decorated the set for artists performances on AB. He did that on his show out of NYC, The Beechnut Sat. Night Show in late 50s and early 60s. This looks very much like Shebang. Brenda appeared on it several times. Venus Clare, the person that uploaded the video on Youtube had it wrong.

Yeah I saw that. Dick Clark just stole the set idea from Shebang.

Shebang was broadcast in Philly. AB was originally from Philly. Is it possible that Dick was hosting on Shebang instead of AB? I'm sure he owned rights to it. That would make sense. Because traditionally American Bandstand wouldn't look like this and it didn't have the AB logo that most Bandstand shows have.

No. Shebang was broadcast from Los Angeles with former Detroiter Casey Kasem as the host. AB originated in Philly at a studio at 59th & Market [[I use to catch my train from there into Center City). AB moved to LA in 1964.

Dick Clark was a competitor in the broader sense. He stole ideas. That's how we got The American Music Awards show. He created it to compete with the Grammy Awards Show. In the 70s he created a show called "Soul Unlimited" I believe was the name to compete with "Soul Train".

Thanks for the correction. I fast read because I thought I saw "Shebang" and Philly in the same sentence so I apologize for that. But I still think he bought rights to Shebang even if this is from American Bandstand.

I think what had me questioning whether or not it was from AB or not was I didn't see its logo.
