Does anyone know what The Emotions are up to these days?
Can't find out much current info on them. Their web site
appears to be gone? Wonder if they still perform?

I haven't heard anything about them in years.

They probably do still perform but they're VERY low key these days.

Thanks, Luke. I wonder if the 'new' Emotion is a daughter?

I was thinking maybe Wanda’s daughter. I’m surprised with all the sisters and Theresa Davis they didn’t pick one of them!

Yes they are still active. Wanda and Pam are still in the group. Sheila has pretty much retired. She take care of their mom in Chicago. Yes it's Wanda"s middle daughter Wyann who's been singing in Sheila's spot for the last 5 years. I'm not sure why Jeanette is not being used because she still has her vocal chops. Jeanette released a solo gospel project last year.

Here is an interview they did while in Detroit for a concert in 1976. I was in high school and went to see them and EWF:

I think Jeanette has only returned once, in a play about their lives.

Luke actually the play "Bigger Than Bubblegum" was because of Jeanette. She was taking acting classes at Harbor college. Long story short the professor and Jeanette created the play about the sisters. She stayed with the group [[The Emotions) from the early 90's until the early 2000's when Pam returned to the group in her spot. If you check out youtube under Jeanette Hawes or Jeanette Marie you will find several recording and a few performances from Jeanette.

I saw the sisters in 2015 and the line up was Wanda, Sheila and Pam and Sheila stole the show. I saw them again in the summer of 2017 and it was Wanda, her daughter and Pam. The ladies put on a great live show and the harmonies are still great.

This is one of my favorite Emotions recordings. Sadly, it didn't get much air play. I believe Theresa Davis sang on this one.

How was their Motown album?
I believe I had the LP, but, my record collection went years ago.
This was never issued on CD as far as I know. I can't remember
anything about the LP. If it was ever issued on CD, I'd grab it up.

Shame Sheila retired, her high voice birthed a lot of female singers' careers, especially the ones that practiced singing the high notes to Don't Ask My Neighbors and So I Can Love You.

When I was little, I had no idea there were two [[or three) lead singers in the Emotions. I assumed Wanda did them all because, well, Best of My Love was so prominent and when I discovered they were deeper than I thought and that they switch leads, blew me away...

Should've been bigger than they were!!!

They should put them on 'Unsung' They were a great girl group. I was in High School when they reached they're peak in the mid 70's. They had such lovely voices.

“Unsung” has indeed done a very good episode on The Emotions. Well worth seeking out.
