I am curious to know if the album cover format/design for “Volume 2 of Smoky Robinson and the Miracles Greatest Hits” was used for any other artists and their “Greatest Hits Volume 2.”

They used the same format for Marvin Gaye Greatest Hits Vol.2, but his photo was a close-up.

They did do a similar design for Diana Ross & the Supremes' Greatest Hits Vol. 3.

And something a little different for The Temptations' Greatest Hits II.

And we can't forget Stevie Wonder's Greatest Hits Vol. 2.

As a side note, I wonder why they called the above Supremes collection Vol. 3? I know that their first greatest hits collection was a 2-lp set. But the Miracles first greatest hits collection [[GREATEST HITS FROM THE BEGINNING) was a 2-lp set as well. Yet their next hits collection was considered Vol. 2.

Of course, there will never be an answer but I was just wondering.

That's a real good question Reese and I feel the same way about The Supremes' Greatest Hits Vol. 3.

might just be that different producers and people were working on each set. I wouldn't say that Motown was know for consistency amongst what they did or put out. Whomever did the Miracles sets probably didn't do the Sups
