Where did you hear this from? No offense, but I’m not seeing anything from reliable sources. If it’s true, this really sucks. Jerry’s one of my all time favorites.

I see that some porn actor named Jerry Butler died in January, but nothing about The Ice Man, thank goodness.

I did some research...fun fact: This porn actor actually named himself after The Ice Man after hearing "Only the Strong Survive." :D

The porn star wrote a very revealing book. When I first saw the spine on a bookstore shelf, I thought the "Ice Man" had written a book. It wasn't until I looked at the cover that I saw that it wasn't the Jerry Butler that I knew. ;)

P.S. The "Ice Man" did write a book, ONLY THE STRONG SURVIVE. I was lucky enough to have him sign my copy the last time I saw him in concert.

Did Freda print a retraction? I'm not a member of Facebook so I can't check.

I'm glad to hear it's not true. I think it's a good idea to wait until official confirmation is put out there before posting that someone has passed. Hopefully, this thread can be deleted.

No problem. It's just that OUR Jerry Butler is such a huge legend that the news would have been everywhere.

I try everything, to delete this post, sorry people.

There's no reason to delete it, you made and error and owned it. No big. A lively conversation ensued and folks communicated, which is the point of any thread.

But I get how you feel. Over in the Club House there is a thread on the passing of Vic Damone. I responded saying how I remembered him most for his role in "The Godfather". It was a sincere response except for the fact that it was Al Martino in "The Godfather" not Vic Damone! I felt about 2 inches tall. Over on the Motown Forum someone posted a photo he sincerely thought was Diana Ross, it turned out to be Tracee Ross. We both apologized and moved on.

There are more than a few posts with errors on the SDF, many not recognized and/or owned by their posters. It's just part of what happens on any forum. We are all human, no one is infallible. We live and learn. It's all good. Cut yourself some slack.:)
