I remember reading this list when I first discovered Motown and it was great!!! Some great underrated tunes there, some of my faves. And, lets be honest, most people have probably never heard The Monitors' "Bring Back The Love" or Marvin Gaye's "When I Had Your Love" :)

I can't quibble with most on the list, and was thrilled to see "I'll Keep Holding On" by the Marvelettes mentioned. I think most of these songs indeed are relatively unknown to the casual listener. I haven't even heard all of them, and I've been listening to Motown my whole life.

I have another quibble, however. Whoever wrote this article is very confused as to who Tammi Terrell was. In the brief bio, it says she married Ernie Terrell, the boxer! He was Jean Terrell's brother, and of course no relation to Tammy [[born Montgomery). Pretty sloppy work there! However, the song selected "All I Do is Think About You" is indeed a sublime Tammy song which who knows why never got released until her Hip-O box set.

I know what you mean, but if you think that's sloppy check the story of the anniversary of Otis Redding's death. They start off talking about it is piece of Motown history! It has always irked me when people assumed that every black artist in the sixties recorded for Motown Records.
