"Strange I Know" by The Marvelettes

I just finished listening to the stereo mix of "Strange I Know" included on The Marvelettes' Forever 3 CD. I noticed at 1:57, there's some sort of strange distortion with the background vocals. Can anyone elaborate? Is that supposed to be there?

I've noticed that glitch, too, going all the way back to the Compact Command Performances CD 20 years ago! I'm surprised it wasn't fixed for this release.

I guess this glitch must have been part of the original masters? Interesting.
