I like chart stuff like that ! thanks !

So, THE BOSS was not a Number One single anywhere in the world . Only so on the US disco chart.

Thank you for posting this. I love seeing how different songs performed on other charts.

Wow! What a fantastic accomplishment. I had no idea she had 30 #1 records when you add all that were listed in the first post on this thread. Amazing! I am so proud of her and being a native Michigander, back in the day, doubly proud that we're both from Michigan.

Timing has to be right; sometimes you are a great singer but you don't fit with the look and the sound of the time.

The Supremes had a huge peak in 1965 and Diana had a huge peak in 1980/1981. The Chart Compilation books says she would rank among the Top 5 artists of the Rock Era if you combine her Supremes work with her individual work.

This is the reason there is still controversy after 50 years - because of the success. If they'd had a few hits, there might be inter group controversy like things that happened for the Vandellas, but when the cultural impact is great, everything is gone through with a fine toothed comb.

In addition:

I'm Still Waiting was #1 in Ireland
Chain Reaction was #1 in Ireland, Venezuela and Zimbabwe
Why Do Fools Fall In Love was #1 in The Netherlands
[[could be a different chart but I thought it only reached #3 in New Zealand)

I think it's stretching it a bit to say If We Hold On Together was #1 in Japan.

They issue a supplementary chart showing the biggest selling foreign singles - it was this IWHOT reached #1 on for quite a few weeks and I believe it was on this for over a year - yes that is a year - but sales were minimal for this.

On the overall Japanese chart it peaked at #4 selling around 425k.

Some of the US #1s were also #1 overseas and in Canada.

Upside Down was #1 in at least 10 countries.

"A Brand New Day" was also #1 in The Netherlands.

No just reliving a long time fight from when I lived there.

I lived in the Upper Peninsula in two towns; Wakefield and Marquette. We were known as Yoopers and that nickname still holds today.

I was surprised Touch by Touch didn't make it to #1 somewhere. I know it had a release in some but not all foreign territories. That's my fav. after Swept Away from her entire RCA output.

I think I recall reading once that the song was a massive hit there on the back of the film Land Before Time so perhaps it did make no 1.

I don't think any international songs did all that well in Japan; perhaps they do now but they didn't then.

I think Touch by Touch did pretty well in the Netherlands although not #1 I don't think.
