Damn, I'm sorry snakepit, I keep forgetting to listen to your shows. They're good but I just darn forget. I know it must take effort to put this together as well. I will try and catch up. :)

Labour of Love but yes it takes some time and effort.
But if listeners like discovering new tracks, or just hearing some old favourites, then it's worth it.

Hey snakepit, it's definitely great for discovering rarer tracks and artists. I'm listening now to this latest show... and I have to say I only know the Motown tracks. Great to hear some completely new stuff with [[somewhat) familiar Motown songs in there too.

Ok, why haven't I heard/listened to The Tempts' "You're The One I Need" before? Why?!! It's fantastic!!!!!!

Because, without being facetious, main line stations don't play this stuff.
In these days of iPods, mobile phones, iPads , tablets etc there is a much wider choice of music shows.
My local gym occasionally plays an "oldies" station....fine for that kind of situation..gym, shop background noise etc. But even this National station can't be bothered to play a range of music spanning 60 years. I've heard Petula Clark's "Don't sleep in the subway" FOUR times in the last week! What are the odds on that [[ just an example by the way....it happens all the time...I wish I had £ for every time " Dock of the bay"or "When a man loves a woman" is featured)
That suggests that a batch of about 60 tracks per week is being played on shuffle.....they can't even be bothered to created a varied oldies playlist with any thought or care.
But the lack on interest shown here, on a specialist soul music forum remember, surprises me. For a variety of reasons, 1,000s of great soul records have been overlooked and ignored.
Next time to log on to SS, look for the catergories button, type in Northern Soul, Rare Soul , Motown etc....lots of shows similar to mine, that can be played at your convenience...web browsing, commuting via phone etc.
Support your soul DJs....and discover great records.
