I'm pretty sure that by July 1967, Mickey had left Motown.
I've no doubt he was in Detroit but still at the Motown studio?..not sure about that.

There was a forum discussion about his leaving:
Version 1: Berry Gordy promoted Eddie Holland above him, to run A&R. [[ Mickey's version).
Version 2: MGM tempted him away by offering lots of money and his own labels.

You're welcome Phil. I haven't read it yet. My plan is to gather as much of the 50th Anniversary material for reading this Fall.

Slightly irrelevant but the biography mentions an album on which Mickey collaborated with Smokey Robinson called Sang, Sista, Sang... I didn't know about this, and cannot find anything about it online... anyone know?
