Hi all,
As I lay in bed last night, my mind was filled with this thought: were there any Motown stars who had number one hits on Billboard chart as a single performer and as a member of a group and as a duet? I came up with three, but I wonder if there were more?

Diana Ross - Group: Supremes, Duet: Lionel Richie, and solo
Lionel Richie - Group: Commodores, Duet: Diana Ross, and solo
Stevie Wonder - Group: We Are the World ensemble...I know this is stretching it, but they are a group and Lionel and Diana fit here also, Duet: McCartney and solo

How could I forget about "I Just Can't Stop Loving You" duet with Siedah Garrett. Thanks! And he also qualifies for an additional group with "We Are the World", stretching the number of groups he had #1 hits with to 2!? Again, I know the "We Are the World" being a group is stretching it.

Yes, but the criteria are as a group member, solo and duet.

Gladys had a number one album on the R&B charts in 1991 called "Good Woman".
