I'm Dutch. Please explain: what means "New Jack Motown"?

I'm NOT Dutch but I'd like to know what it means too.

I'm not sure it's my taste to be honest.

There was a trend or popular sound in hip hop or soul music during the mid 1980s when beat or bass driven music which fused elements of hip hop and dance music with contemporary R&B - referred to as New Jack Swing, created by Teddy Riley and others, was popular. There was no real New jack Motown. Motown was following a trend by then.

Jade was a good group. In fact there were a lot of strong female groups in the first half of the 90's: Jade, En Vogue, TLC, Brownstone, and SWV, among others.

Jade was the bomb! Sadly, they only lasted 2 CD's. Also loved Brownstone...."5 Miles Till Empty" wore my CD player out!

Now for Motown's VERY best entry into "New Jack Swing" here's Johnny Gill and "Rub You The Right Way"!

Stephanie, some very good music came out of this era [[1989 - 92) New Jack Swing baby! Great idea for a thread. I had thought about starting one focus on this era/music and thankfully you did!

Yes, this was a great idea for a thread. Really enjoyed music from this era. Also around this time was "Free Style", but, that's another thread. I think Expose was a good example of this as many other groups/singers.

Gerald Alston went back to the Manhattans if I am not mistaken.

Zhane only did two albums to my recollection. They haven't done anything since then. I recall reading an article about their whereabouts years ago and I believe one of them is teaching music or something along those lines.

I was in 7th grade when this came out. This was a hit on the Video Soul Top 20 Countdown for a few weeks at that time. Big Bub [[Lee "Bubba" Drakeford) also had a short solo career.

At that time, I believe Teddy Riley was with his group on MCA label, which distributed Motown. It seemed easy for members of a group on MCA to record solo on Motown [[Michael Bivins' "Biv Ten" artists, Joyce "Fenderella" Irby, et al). You also had Another Bad Creation, The Boys, The Whitehead Brothers. Jheryl Busby headed Motown then.

Who headed MCA during this period [[late 80s - early 90s)?

Yes, I, too, preferred "Why You Wanna Get Funky On Me," from the House Party movie soundtrack! Plus everyone Smark21 mentioned.
