Abba Super Trouper for all its pop glory has lyrics "I was sick and tired of everything when i called you last night Glasgow all i do is eat and sleep and sing wishing every show was the last show..."..purely autobiographical..
another great song about facing loneliness is Rebecca Storms "The Show"...

BUT the BEST song about it is Charles Azanvours "What Makes A Man a Man" also sung by Marc Almond..its a brilliant sketch of the empty life of a female impersanator/Drag Queen- one of the greatest songs ever written in my humble view..
