Happy Birthday to Ron Isley, born 5/21/1941, the lead vocalist and founding member of the legendary Isley Brothers.
Listen to Behind a Painted Smile today and have pleasant memories of the great music this group produced during their Motown era. It's a shame they did not get the attention that the group deserved.

Happy 76th Birthday to the Great Ron Isley! And while the Isley Bros. didn't get the attention they deserved while they were at Motown, they sure made up for it when they stuck out their own in the '70s.

Here in the UK we loved the Isleys Motown material, perhaps even more than their later material. They enjoyed a number of substantial pop hits and such gems as "heart of mine" "painted smile" "guess i'll always love you" and "put yourself in my place" are regularly played on radio 2 and smooth fm amongst others. Ron Isley is up there with the very best male Motown vocalists.
