I did not remember that the Four Tops recorded their own version of the now classic Eddie Kendricks hit, " If You Let Me". They both were released in 1972, so I don't really know who did it first ,but here are the Tops with Lawrence Peyton on lead:

I think Jimmy Ruffin had a crack at the song too.

I LOVE this version [[which preceded EK's version) and that whole Tops album

Didn't Lawrence co-write this song

Jimmy's version was released in 1969 with the even longer, and clumsier, title of If You Will Let Me, I Know I Can. I love Nature Planned It too, apart from the Hey Man/We Got To Get You A Woman medley. Check out You Got To Forget Him Darling for a potential floor-filler, with Levi doing his General Johnson Drrrrrrr thing.

Absolutely agreed.

I loved Hey Man/We Got To Get You A Woman. I call it "Hey Leroy" but you have to know the song to understand why I call it that!!

Of course The Four Tops are great on this, but Eddie Kendricks version is still the definite classic.
