The Supremes Sing Motown

I have always been curious as to why this LP was never released on an official [[not bootleg) CD. Any thoughts?

Maybe because there was really anything special about it. It was a collection of remakes, which were all available elsewhere. Plus I would think that those who were in control of catalog might have wanted to put their energy towards other reissues by the group.

Or maybe because CDs were still new. I bought this LP in '85. The only Supremes CD that had come out previously was the Compact Command Performances in '83. Motown didn't start releasing albums [[2-fers, actually) until 1986.

I'm slightly confused by this cover. I've seen a similarly titled album "The Supremes Sing Motown" on Discogs.com, but it contains the exact same tracklisting as "Sing H-D-H". Judging that it was released in places like the UK, Germany and the Netherlands, I assume they decided to release it in Europe under this other album title.

I'm curious as to what the track listing is for the album in the original post. Is it yet another album cover for the same batch of songs? Or is it something different?

BTW, this is the cover I saw on Discogs.

Never mind, I found the details of this other "Sing Motown" album. Interesting that it came out in 1985, I'm wondering what the reasoning was putting it out, considering there really isn't much on there [[if any) that were hits back in the day. Guess just for variety, since they put out the 25th Anniversary set the next year.
