Billboard.com has been Spears Central this week, following the scorching radio debut of "Hold It Against Me." As previously reported, the song is expected to exceed 400,000 in first-week download sales, as well, according to industry sources, and blast in atop next week's Billboard Hot 100.

Spears has sold 2.9 physical singles and 21 million digital tracks.

Why are so many gay men into dance music? Just about every gay bar in NYC plays dance music not just the clubs. Most of it is just so tedious after a while and much of it unhip.

There's quite a bit of tacky in the music of Liza, Cher and Bette Midler.

Cher lipsyncs a good chunk of her show. But live or lipsync, too many of their songs and/or the staging of such songs are kitsch, camp, syrupy schmalz and schlock.
