Lovely photo Roberta. Diana and Elton have been aquainted for well over 40 years, Elton attended one of Diana's London concerts in the early 90's and afterwards he came backstage and dined with Diana. He is a long standing fan of soul and motown music and his knowledge of the genre always astounded me. He said the glitz and glamour of the Supremes was a major influence on his own extravagant live shows . I am disappointed they never dueted together. It almost happened twice. Once in the 80's and again in the 90's but internal politics got in the way. Elton can be one of the kindest and most generous people in the world but he can also be the worlds biggest diva. The sparks would have flown had those two recorded together. Love the pair of them.

Hi David, I believe that if you are using a mobile phone attached images do not show up on threads. There is normally a way of changing the view on your phone so that it looks like what you would see on your computer. Somewhere on your display there will [[hopefully) be a "request desktop site" button. If you can find it, click it [[well, tap it) and you should be able to view the pictures!

Who is Diane Ross ???? Circa 1894, "Diane Ross" is the term used on this forum by those in her inner circle who were fortunate to know her from way back. It helps to distinguish her from who we common folk know as Diana Ross.

I met Miss Ross at the Detroit Opera house in 2004 and my cousin and me was introduced To Miss Ross backstage by the First Lady of Motown Dr martha Reeves as Diane. Miss Ross and Miss reeves refered tom one another as Diane and Martha. Miss Ross didnt seem to mind being called Diane and wasnt bothered when we got introduced to us as Diane.

She always asked me to refer to her as Diana rather than Diane, but it is true to say most of the old timers refer to her as Diane.

She told Oprah that she expects people[[ I guess outside of "the circle") to refer to her as Miss Ross as a sign of respect.

Roberta, can you provide some context to the 2nd picture; who are all the people, any idea?

So flattering when you get treated like The Queen of England and there is chronic discussion of how you are to be addressed. Some people, like Roberta, use Diane and it is respectful. Some people, like Marv, use it to disrespectful, because they hate the Monarchy.

Most people don't care whether it's the Queen of England or the Queen of Motown.

The people in the second photo are the band members and background singers whove been with Miss Ross for years and years. The lovely gentleman in the front row with his hands on his knees is Mr Gerry Brown who I know and hes been with Miss Ross for almost 20 years. Mr Brown also plays for Stevie Wonder. Valerie and Fred and Lamont are in the photo and theyve been background singers for a real long time. She is real nice and real generous to her band and singers.

Roberta
