I don't know why the guy that uploaded it labeled it as 1966.

The Temptations really shined on "Hello Young Lovers". Hard to beat those intricate 5-part Motown harmonies! I've always loved The Tempts' "In A Mellow Mood" album. Of all of Motown's jazz/adult contemporary releases, I think The Tempts' was the best -- tied with Diana Ross & The Supremes' "Funny Girl" album.

I think the reason why we miss them perhaps more than ever now is because there quite simply is no other act out there today capable of doing this kind of thing. Back in the day we had many acts capable of at least attempting to match the Temps for quality but now? No way. I am so thankful that i grew up in this era of great performers, and that we have so many glorious memories to look back on. Thanks for posting Marv.

I agree with you! Also, I think they were one of the few acts that had any member who could take the lead. They all had such awesome and distinct voices.

I was born in 1965, so I was a child of the 1970s primarily. Even as a youngster, my musical tastes reached way back to the early 1950s. I can remember buying and listening to tunes recorded before I was born. The Temptations were a favorite in my household. My oldest brother and my mother absolutely adored them and so do I. The above clips speak volumes to their talent which will probably never be equaled.

"Hello Young Lovers" is from the Nov. 19, 1967 broadcast and "Autumn Leaves" from Sept. 28, 1969, hence the appearance of David Ruffin in the first and Dennis Edwards in the second.

"Hello Young Lovers" is from the Nov. 19, 1967 broadcast and "Autumn Leaves" from Sept. 28, 1969, hence the appearance of David Ruffin in the first and Dennis Edwards in the second.

Here's a list of some, possibly all, of the Tempts' appearances on Ed Sullivan, lifted from a review of the DVD of those appearances on amazon.com:
1. June 28, 1967: Medley: Girl [[Why You Wanna Make Me Blue)/All I Need/My Girl/ [[I Know) I'm Losing You. First appearance of the group on the Sullivan show. Previously only an edit was available on DVD/VHS which cut the first half of the medley out.
2. November 19, 1967: Don't Look Back. With Paul Williams singing lead.
3. November 19, 1967: Medley: Get Ready/Stop! In The Name Of Love/My Girl/Baby Love/ [[I Know) I'm Losing You. The Supremes and Tempts take turns singing each others' hits with the Supremes starting off. My Girl becomes My Guy [[but not the Mary Wells hit) when the Supremes sing it. Previously an edit of just the final song was available on DVD/VHS.
4. February 2, 1969: Runaway Child, Running Wild. Dennis Edwards replaces David Ruffin. Each of the five members gets to sing lead.
5. September 28, 1969: I Can't Get Next To You.
6. April 5, 1970: You've Made Me So Very Happy. The group turns this song into a dance number with five female dancers paired up with each member.
7. April 5, 1970: Psychedelic Shack.
8. January 31, 1971: Get Ready. From their final appearance on the Sullivan show.
9. January 31, 1971: Medley: Ain't No Mountain/I'll Be There/My Sweet Lord. Medley of recent chart hits by other artists. First time ever on DVD.
10. January 31, 1971: Just My Imagination [[Running Away With Me). Eddie's swan song.
Bonus:
11. November 19, 1967: Hello Young Lovers. First time ever on DVD.
12. September 28, 1969: Autumn Leaves. First time ever on DVD.

They just don't have the talent or people to produce it and present it to the public like the old days. I will say this. There was a group of incredibly talented young guys that performed at Ralph's book signing that really need to be looked at!
