Far outside the realm of concern for this forum, but Luise Rainer, who won back to back Oscars for Best Actress in 1936 and 1937 just celebrated her 101st birthday this week.

Hi Sunset Traveler:Big ups to Roscoe Robinson.

Bluesman Eddie Kirkland still touring strong.Very interesting bio.Born in Jamaica.Spent time in Detroit and Macon.Recorded with John Lee Hooker and recorded with Stax records.Toured extensively back in da day.

Blues legend Bobby Bland was born January 27, 1930.
He will turn 81 in a few weeks.

Also born 1930, Dr. Mable John. She is a published author of fiction, among her multitude of accomplishments. Would love it if she wrote a memoir.

Johnny Otis, born in 1921. Musician, singer, composer, bandleader, artist [[painter), deejay, discovered many great talents in R&B--including Esther Phillips, Etta James. Father of Shuggie Otis. Moved back to L.A. a few years ago from the Bay Area. As recently as 5 years ago he did a weekly radio show on Berkeley's KPFA, had to quit for health reasons.

Also blues pianist Pinetop Perkins. [[born 1913)

Mable John wrote a book that she was promoting when I got her autograph, but I'm not sure what it was exactly.
