It seems as this has flown way under the radar, but earlier today, I learned that Grady Chapman died on January 4th from congestive heart failure.
Grady was one of the lead singers of the pioneering R&B group The Robins. Over the years, he performed with various incarnations of The Coasters & most of you last saw him at the PBS Doo-Wop show that was taped at The Sands in March 2005. Somewhere in our archives there are probably still pictures of that taping that I posted of Grady at the taping.
I spoke with Grady a few times & he impressed me to be a pretty cool guy. As his passing wasn't widely reported, I wanted to acknowledge the passing of yet another of our pioneers. I send my sincere condolences to his family, friends & fans. Grady was 81 years-old.
