Hello all,
As I had mentioned in an earlier thread, I sent two letters to an Mr. Wade Jones that I believe may in fact be the same Wade Jones that utilized Berry and Miss Ray's Rayber recording service. I have a copy of the record, and rather like the A-side. It's a shame Mr. Jones didn't continue to record. He had a very pleasant voice that was no more ropey than Smokey Robinson's at that same time.
Anyway, I found various records of a Wade B. Jones and a Wade M. Jones in south-east Michigan. They're the same man. He's the correct age to be the Wade Jones that cut the Rayber single, and he's still alive. I sent two letters to his last two known addresses. The first was delivered as expected yesterday, the second was forwarded and will be delivered today. Mr. Jones signed for the first. Here's hoping he gives me a call or decides to write back. It may not be the guy I'm looking for, but it seems very likely that he is.
