For those who don't know, somebody pawned Ron Dunbar's Grammy for "Patches" on an episode of "Pawn Star". From Mr Dunbar's Facebook:

Here's a summary of that episode:
Grammy Awards first given out in 1958
Patches reached #4 on the Billboard singles chart

Rick doesn’t have a clue about the song lol. The guy thinks its worth about 15k, but not when its Ronald Dunbar.
Rick wants it but its not like it was an artist. Rick is offering this guy a job, he can sell ;-)

The guy says he will sell it for 6000 and Rick offers 1500, ……… $2350

DEAL $2350 this guy can bargain lol

Rick is excited and thinks he can get around $5000 for it. [[http://www.thepawnshow.com/ronald-dunbar-grammy-award/)

I highlighted Ron's quote in blue. Not much else but people's posts and Dunbar's response. Here's a pic of Mr Dunbar & grammy

Long before banks, ATMS and check-cashing services, there were pawn shops. Pawning was the leading form of consumer credit in the United States until the 1950s, and pawn shops are still helping everyday people make ends meet. Pawn Stars takes you inside the colorful world of the pawn business. At the Gold & Silver Pawn Shop on the outskirts of Las Vegas, three generations of the Harrison family--grandfather Richard, son Rick and grandson Corey--jointly run the family business, and there's clashing and camaraderie every step of the way. The three men use their sharp eyes and skills to assess the value of items from the commonplace to the truly historic, including a 16th-century samurai sword, a Super Bowl ring, a Picasso painting and a 17th-century stay of execution. It's up to them to determine what's real and what's fake, as they reveal the often surprising answer to the questions on everyone's mind, "What's the story behind it"? and "What's it worth?" There was a thread on this somewhere but I don't have any idea where it is........it was about this very episode of pawn stars......the show itself is addictive, now thats its so popular, it's become watered down and predictable.......but they still have great characters and the Old Man is one sharp cookie !

I saw that episode and was saddened and shocked to hell. Forgive my blatent remark ,but I can't say it any other way ,I felt it was a muckingfuchin shame. I say that because I have seen them and know of people that have awards of this calibre in their possession. Jam Master Jays RRHOF statue at his brother Marvins apartment ,my cousin Keith "Cowboy" Wiggins of Grand Master Flash and The Furious Fives RRHOF statue and Gold Record Plaques from my uncles work on D Train and Stephanie Mills and Phyllis Hyman projects. It's not that they are just things or trophy's ,but what they represent. The importance of what they represent is not understood by a lot of people who should know what they represent ,and thats a sad situation. I remember the story of how James Jamerson cried at recieving his gold plaque for Boogie Fevwer. He should have had a house full of gold plaques and Grammys.
I'm glad that he [[Dunbar) got it back and if he didn't have it then it should have been in some sort of Hall of Fame for Soul or the History of American Music.
