So anyone know the link between Robert West's Lu Pine [[after he relocated to Vagas) and Magnificent Montague [[the LA radio stn DJ).
There had to be one for the Packer's recordings to turn up on Lu Pine credited to the mysterious Joe S Maxey.
Maxy, according to the label of his US 45 was 'a 14 year old backed by a 16 piece orchestra'whereas really the tracks credited to him [[in the UK & US) were just old MagMont recordings, mant by musicians credited by the DJ as the Packers ... mysterious goings on indeed.

I can't imagine why Montague would lease Packers' tapes to Robert West to re-release infinitesimal quantities [[maybe 500?) on the latter's resurrected Lu Pine label, from Las Vegas. That makes no sense. Montague had connections with larger labels in L.A. I guess that West had some connections to shops in Las Vegas that wanted to sell them as oldies, or maybe they were bringing them to dance clubs and selling them?
