I wonder if she will actually perform with the orchestra. Twice, I've seen her supposedly in concert with a symphony or pops orchestra, but in actuality, the orchestra does a set, then there's an intermission, and then Mary comes on with her own musicians after the orchestra has left the stage.

Oh it was wonderful. She read from a Black history book about the Dred Scott decision and the Brown vs Board of Education legislation before launching into this slow, deliberate version of "Strange Fruit".

Oh yeah Marv now your are talking!!! This is the best version. I did see Mary in the late 80's, I bel in Lake Tahoe treating LC with a real soulful stylebwith a lot of ad-libs. She wore a leather dress that was a knockout! She talk a group of us in the casino later that nite.

I love it too! She tears this song up. Standing ovation when we saw her sing it at Wayne State University in 1991 for the American Cancer Society Gala. Just knocked it out!
