America is one the few countries where regular radio airplay delivers royalties for songwriters only [[the publishing that you always hear about) and zero royalties for the actual performances.. so your fave Motown stars get no royalties when their records are played everyday on oldes/classics stations unless they wrote the song [[good for Lionel, Smokey, Stevie and Marvin..not so good for everyone else..

That's nice but I recall R. Dean Taylor on here years ago saying his share of writing royalties amounted to next to nothing ~ and that was when CDs were actually still selling a little bit.
The royalty issue stinks for artists now. Sales have collapsed, streaming radio is the way of the world. If they want money, they have to perform.

Otis & Melvin of the Temptations figured that out a long time ago.
Performing was the only way to get money
The blues singers out of Chicago got taken, because they could barely read or write some of them.
A record producer used to write his name of the forms with Buddy Holly to send in; so he got half of the royalties.

Thanks go out to Martha Reeves for fighting for a worthy cause. She/they deserve better. The songs would be nothing with out the artist bringing it to life and to the public's attention.
